I am doing a full rebuild on my 521 cheetah engine and was wondering if/ how I should go about checking out the crank.

Try push/pulling on the rods, there should be no play in the bearings. A little side to side slide is fine, but no push/pull play.

The next step is to check over the welds, no cracks, etc. If it's not welded, now is the time.

Lastly, you need someone to put the crank in a stand and check it for true. Need a crank stand and a dial caliper to check the ends of it.

i bought a used 4 mil crank ... i sent it to jeff at f.a.s.t and had him make sure everything was up to spect.

maybe check with a atv shop that u trust and knows how to make sure the crank is trued. like dave said , if its not welded .... id get it done.
