Bought a blown up 04 yfz450(crank,rod,cylinder and cases) going to build a dirt drag bike. What is a good combination to build.I want reliable power,HR+3 crank,CW+3 cylinder kit or stock crank with the CW cylinder? Will later put a 20-30 shot on it. Just looking for some ideas,nothing super expensive or exotic.

easy and cheap is the hr3mil and crankworks 98 but get the crank rebalanced to the 98. if you spray it your gunna need a programable cdi and have custom nos curves made for it

Leave it stock bore and stroke if your going to shot NOS through it, maybe even go up to a 97mm cylinder with a stock crank. JMO

Just lighten the crap out of it....

With the added cost of balancing the crank is it even worth putting it in?

im running 98mil bore and will be stepping up +3 stroker this winter, i tested a 501 over the weekend and yes IMO it is definilty worth it. IMO adding stroke is stronger then adding bore.

im with ernie if you want a cheap and fast setup, stock and spray it ,i have a stock 450r,with cam,no porting or anything,and went 4.5X on dirt track in north carolina,same setup in the sand,went 4.46 300'

how big of a shot? what compression piston?

I run the Hot rod 3mill crank and 14-1 stockbore piston. Runs real good on 110 with a 20 shot.
