I need some help guys. I've never messed with alky much but i think im gonna try it. I know with alky the higher the compression the better, but would 13.5 to 1 work good? I'm also going to be spraying on top of it so if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, please don't be shy. Also carb recommendations, will a esr alky carb kit be fine? If I do that, i'm thinking about going ahead and having it bored to a 42mm.
Thanks for the help guys!

Well on the 4 strokes alky is a little harder to get tuned in correctly, it is even worse with NOS from what i have read and heard.

13-5 comp should be fine on alky and on the carb imo it will depend on if you have porting?

But if you have porting and some good cam's then get the carb bored to a 43mm or get a 44mm lectron and us that for alky.

With the lectron you can get more fuel out of it on top end better than the FCR carb.
But if you want to keep the fcr carb the esr alky kit does work good and i know a couple that have used it with good results.

In my experiences with alchol and nos on a yfz, you really need to watch your compression ratio. I would suggest you drop that ratio a bit. Just my option, but i have dynoed allot of yfz in my day and have found after you tear them down with nos and high compression you will have cracked skirts and egg shaped pistons. you really need to change pistons extremely often when running that kinda ratio. additionally i would try to back your timing down with an aftermarket box when running nos. It will help piston life without sacrificing power. you will only gain a little with alcohol but the cooling effects are awesome and well worth the conversion. When you convert, I have found the only good way is on a dyno or use a kit, Buy the carb with all the conversion parts for a yfz. this will make your life easier and will get you close just out of the gate. In my experience, you will not gain much when shooting more than a 25 shot to that motor unless you do some radical porting, and valve work. Also keep the piston size in a stock config unless you have an aftermarket cylinder because with anything over a 15 shot you will be replacing pistons once a month. this is mandatory unless you want a really expensive repair bill. Also if you motor is older the Oil mod is mandetory for nos....

Just my 2 cents

Just kidding guys. For those of you that dont allready know I am his dad. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. I know absolutely nothing about alcohol.

Thanks for the help. I'm only plannin on a 10 maybe 15 shot with the 13.5 piston. Maybe that will be ok? Also will it be better to spray gas with the nitrous or will it be ok to use the alky with the nitrous.

That would be your call the alky will help the motor stay cooler.
I ran nos on my old yfz with a 13:5 piston and had no problems what so ever.

Just remeber if you use alky with nos you have to have a bigger fuel jet than nos jet.

That was on his little motor and he has since put his big motor back on and is not running nos on the big motor yet. Really doesnt need it on the big motor since he is running in the 4.1's but I am sure he will have it on there soon. lol
But to answer your question, I dont really know cause it was at a tnt session and he was really struggling to get it fat enough and he finally ended up pulling the fuel jet completely out and running it. But I dont know how it did or what kind of times it ran.

You do know the stock pet[censored] will only flow enough alky for about 45hp dont you? if not do some experimenting you might need a pump or a pingle..
