Setting your timing depends mainly on what size shot you'll be spraying...20 shot or less (10 per hole) you won't need to change your timing. 30 shot, back it off 1 degree, 40 shot, 2 degrees, etc. These are just general "rules of thumb", the determining factor on how much you need to back your timing down is ultimately judged by the heat shown on your plugs.

First time you spray it, put a fresh set of plugs in there, make a couple passes, pull your plugs and see what they tell you. The most important thing to realize is that you really need to have your jetting dialed in OFF the bottle before you turn it on...Also, it's a good idea to start with a 10 jet spread on alky, it's best to be a little rich than too lean on the bottle.

Hope this helps...

awesome, thanks.ill have to get some 10s then i only have 17s right now.also, ive heard that running alky through the fuel pump burns the pump out over time?.a buddy had a cr500 spraying and he kept frying the pump.

and just to make sure im understaning you correctly,by sayin i need the jetting dialed "off" the bottle you mean make sure my jetting is dead on when just running alky?

one more thing...i have the pressure gauge on the bottle and when i turn it on i notice it leaks from the fitting that screws into the nitrous line side.but when i take the gauge off and just screw the line directly to the bottle it doesnt leak...i know i have the fittings tight enough when i put the gauge on and the tapered ends are clean and not gouged or anything.can i put liquid teflon on that fitting to stop the leak or should i just buy a new gauge?

thanks again man..

When you say you need to get some 10's, are you talking about 10 hp shot per hole (jets)? If so, cool...I just want to make sure you and I are on the same page.

You are correct, you need to have your jetting dialed in 100% on alky alone before spraying nitrous with it.

Absolutely on the liquid teflon, I put liquid teflon on all the fittings going into and out of the solenoids.

What kind of Comp. should you be running with the nos and alky??

Can you use the alky domes you would have in the bike or go back to less comp.?
On that I can't answer from personal experience, I've only run nitrous with gas at this point. But, I've never talked to anyone that switched domes just for spraying nitrous, I would run what you currently are unless it's really high compression. I'd consider high compression to be anything over 185psi. My compression was right at 175...Just my thoughts....
what domes do u have travis ??
I'm running the ones Jeff sent with the cylinders, don't have a number scribed on them or anything...they're not special, just plain ol domes that I requested with the cub.
what kinda spark plugs you runnin in your domes, travis?
I run NGK's high flux plugs
ooh, are they the plugs that you showed me that didnt have the
grounding strap on them?

sorry for taking this thread off on a tangent, 1996dragshee.
this is good info.
Yes they are, I like them a lot. You have to upgrade your stator though, the stocker can't handle the 1.21 jigawatts needed to make the flux plugs function properly. I'm probably going to upgrade to Mr. Fusion for next season, then I won't even have to run alky or gas, I'll be able to run my bike off of banana peels and empty beer cans

but you can still use nitrous on that setup, right?

what brand of nitrous are you using?
i saw a couple of guys on the coast the other weekend.
their bikes were supposedly set up identical. 4mill cheeta
powervalve engines. one had a blue bottle and the other
had a white one. the guy with the blue bottle bested his
friend everytime by at least 2/3 bike lengths.
The way it is now, yes, I can still run nitrous. But when I switch to Mr. Fusion, there'll be no need for the nitrous, since the fuel will already be enrichened as much as possible.

The blue bottle setups have a krypto valve that allows better flow and allows for quicker release of the nitrous...that's probably why the other guy got beat, that split second will make all the difference in the world. I am still running the white bottle setup, hopefully I'll be able to afford the polished one, that has the advanced kryto valve, which incorporates an oil injection to lessen the chance for a meltdown.

does that one have a pump or something that comes with it?
It sure does, but you have to calibrate it to ensure you're getting the proper flow. It's a lot like rocket science
Thats some hilarious stuff!!!!

I have sprayed 50hp nos on a 250R stock cylinder but with +4mm stroke. Just keep your compression low...about 140 and you should be able to spray lots of HP into it.

BTW nos is nos the bottle does not matter what color it is!!!! LOL
