i was talking to nate about a new cr500 cylinder (either saber or caracal based design), and wondered if anyone here has any interest in something like that ?....ahh who am i kidding, your all banshee riders but thats cool
. i have a ton of freinds that ride cr500 and will give them the link to this site in hopes of sparking enough interest to get atleast a couple of these cylinders made.

The CR makes a ton of HP. Fairly cheap to build as well, but I have only heard of a few that made it onto trx bottom ends.

you misunderstand what we are trying to do. we want to put a caracal or saber cylinder on a cr500 bottom end.
well nate, sounds like you might have to make me a one off cylinder, if things dont work out with calvin. my freind lewisclan is interested to. all the cr500 riders that i thought would be interested aparently are still wearing diapers and using training wheels

When they see honest 100hp+ cr500s, they will start lining up.

It should make a strong combo..
i have a cr500trike. its very simple. mild porting, 44mm lectron, ftz pipe everything else is STOCK in the motor it just dosent have the top end hp. BUT its a ROCKET out of the hole i use a +14 arm and 10 paddle rippers its explodes out of the hole.. but just wont run out far enough. to beat fast banshee's/ now other simple stuff oh yea its got that down.. i really would like a better head thats set up for alky AND a newer BIG pipe desing made for dragging.. but so far its been super dependable and fun to ride..

very interested,

will these be de-stroked to the 250r based versions that we see out there now?

I have heard of stroked versions of the 250r sabers not working as well as the stock or de-stroked

Believe or not.. a CR 500 properly ported, headed, with an FMF pipe will touch on 90-100HP on pump gas!!

By looking at the cylinder one would think that it is not possible to extract that much power from an ancient cylinder design.. BUT.. it turns out.. it is possible.. A properly set-up CR500 is un controllable on the dirt and a blast in the dunes..

I think if you added a better designed cylinder (CP INd) yo would surely require a whole new pipe to fully take advantage of the better flowing cylinder..

Again,, stock jug.. BIG power when done right..

Ive got 9 cr500s 3 of them are pro hillclimers on C-12 & N02 built by the best 500 builders in the USA.
I have another extened sand bike on ALKY with NO2 & C-12 injected
I got to call BS on your 90 - 100 hp on pump gas.

Who might those "Best" 500 builder be? Just curious
Had an 88 TRX 250R With a Full race 86 CR500 motor built by CT racing 15 yrs ago. It was the scariest and fastest atv or dirt bike powered quad i've ever rode. We Named it "PURE HELL" from a crazy old fuel altered of the same name. I only had one friend that would ride it and he was scared!! Sold it when my daughter was born. it vibrated so badly you could only ride it a little while. no counter balencer. I would like to build a drag/hillshooter version and might be interested in one of these cylinders. Any price ideas.
my trike dosent vibrate much at all at least not any more than a trx250.. i can ride/ drag it all day. just really need a good head and a more modern pipe.. and i'm sure ready for a rk head!

thats what i am worried about on these new cp cylinders. i'd LOVE to do one with my pile but is the head/ pipe design going to come along ?
All the three wheelers i've ridden with dirt bike motors, 85 tecate 3/kx500 mild build and a 84 atc250/cr500 stock. didn't vibrate at all. The front suspension is that of a dirt bike and transfers vibration staight down the stem and out the tire to the ground. On a quad it goes out the arms,up the stem and throught the chassis. What are these cylinders off of and what is the big difference's??
