No offense, I'm not a believer in Hinson, I think they're overpriced and Over hyped.
I've had a no-name Magnum from FAST in my bike, going on it's third year and it still looks great. And I make a LOT of passes on my bike.
Cody...if you haven't bought it already...I'll send you a PM.

i agree with 50% of this. I wouldnt say thy are "overrated" becasue they do make great products they are just rediculosly over priced. They are great baskets, i have zero marks on mine.
I however didnt know any better when i purchased my 8 plate and spent the $$$ on a full hinson setup. Had i known about boss or magnum or other brands at the time i would have gone that route.
I also agree about hinsons being overpriced, but they do make high quality products...you are paying partially for the "Hinson" name. I've been running an e-bay special billet basket for 3 years now, I think the name of it was "performance engineering" or something like that. It has its signs of wear, but is still in great shape.
If you're going to step up to a 10mil, definitely get the parts to make it last. Stock components "will" work, but like mentioned before, not for long...you'll be buying a billet basket in the future, so might as well buy one now and save you the hassle later.
You also might want to look into the kickstarter gear modification, it's not a necessity but if your bike ever kicks back real hard, you'll be glad you got one instead of looking at a busted clutch cover...just my thoughts

Don't worry Travis whatever i do to this motor is gonna be the best or another words what i need to do to this motor.
hinson straight cut gear'd spring loaded basket is all i would use on that motor reliability and no more cusions blown out all over the place. worth every penny
the PE baskets are GREAT!! i had one and i loved it i had a barnet that recently exploded the backing plate was ALLUMINUM!! i also ran a vortex.? and it was good also. if your going to run a hinson reuse your old backing plate off the stock basket they are VERY hard and will retain t he cusions better. you will have to have it machined for the angle of the bolts. the bolts are the weakest link in my mind after the plate..

We also use PE baskets. They work great so far.Plus they're cheaper.lol
They can wear out quicker and break more stuff on rider weight and surface type too....
I exclusively ran pavement on my 10 mil, it'd have a spring loaded basked, straight cuts and a billet second.
Compared to what's out there, I don't consider a 10 mil cub a "high HP" motor anymore...
A 10 mil today is yesterday's 4 mil....LOL.

I run a boss basket, 3 years now on the 10mill cub... and have 2 years on the other one thats in the 4mill, no problems...
You can make loads of power with the cubs Im pullling same mph as the 10 and 14mill t-rexs at our track 500'
My e.ts are the same if not better but then again they are t-rexs not dm's or big block twisters
