Darned good question.
I think with hubs and everything on a standard drag axle, probably 10 to 14 lbs. Stock axle, easily double that....easily.

That's unsprung weight and less rotational mass....
would u say thats worth 10 hp.. ?

thats what somebody told me...

You are looking at a 10lb difference.

If you believe the general consensus, 1lb of rotating mass is = to 7lbs of stationary mass. Likewise, 7lbs of stationary mass takes 1hp to move. So if you believe these generalities, 10lbs of rotating mass=70lbs of stationary mass=10hp

You think/know of someone that has dyno'd one to the other?
I'd say at the very least, it'll get your back tires driving and out of the hole faster fo sho!!
Its really not something quantifiable on a dyno, remember that the rear tires are being loaded on a dyno, and a dyno has no way of telling how heavy a bike is... but they go through the gears faster in real life, with a lighter axle / lighter bike, for sure.
damn .. now i really want one

Kinda what I was thinking, wanted reinforcement...
You guys have a dyno at your shop, don't ya?

You're not actually pushing the mass of the bike...I gotcha, it's being simulated by loading the tires with resistance from the barrel.
let me know if urs is messed up or not.... how much do u think urs wieghts ?
A [email protected] hillshooter axle weights 10#'s gun drilled and i think the drag axle's weight's 9 1/2#'s and it's gun drilled also.
anyone have a extra stock axle they can wiegh
I will weight it when i get home.

I am running a stock blaster axle on my shee right now, but the wife's 450 has a sweet Drag axle in it...

Ya we have a dyno at our shop, Nate is out thrashin on it right now.
So would I notice a big gain in MPH and ET by switching to a drag axle?

You won't notice on top. But you will notice a difference at the start.

I dident really notice any e.t drop or mph gain when I switched. more then likely its from the crappy track we run on but. I can tell you guys this much I spin a hell lot more and can pull more gearing then with a stock axle.
my buddy rippen put a raptor axle on his hill shootin bike.. i think its about 2 1/2 inches shorter.. thats what i was plannin on doin.. but now a want a drag axle...

$$$$... it never stops does it ?? lol

nope it doesent, ever year you want more and more and faster and faster
jt... shayne.. are u all runnin drag axles ??

Ok the stock axle with just the locknuts and brake rotor hub on it weight's 12#'s.

That is no sprocket hub or wheel hubs.
