Everyone Breaking In Ways

What's everybody do to break in a 4 or 7 or 10mill cub?

Just like every fully rebuilt motor i'm sure you don't want to hop on the thing and put it in super high get it mode!

What about overrides as well?

Just curious as to what everyone does

Chime in Dave whenever...lol

I personally do my heat cycles without antifreeze..it heats up and cools faster...I just start the bike let it run for about till the cylinders are warm to hot to the touch just giving a lil gas here and there...shut it off ,let it cool all the way down then do it again starting it up then burping the throttle every now and again,,Then the third heat cycle all hold it a lil more if I burp it or at different rpms. For the overide and after heat cycles Ill make a couple pass of just at a steady Higher rpm just shifting through the gears..Nothing super high Rpms but enough to get it to 5th without a bog .after a couple times of that I just start layin into it.the nikilsil dont take much and the rings should seat.

I motor my engines on the dyno for about 5 minutes with the ignition off, then idle it for awhile to get fuel in the bottom end and some heat in the head, then I have a break in profile that I run for about an hour.

3 20 min heat cycles, leeting it cool 100% between. First tanks ride it up and down through all the gears at variouse rpm's. next tank ride it like you stole it.

hahaha nice i can't wait til i get mine back i'll have it broke in as soon as possible...lol
Do you guys really run a whole tank through just riding it around? That's nuts, I maybe rode it for 5-10 mins out on the road through the gears then just ripped it.

While I did the heat-cycles is when I work on the carbs getting them all setup too, worked so far.
I do my bike like said above 3 heat cycle's and letting it cool all the way down in between.
2 heat cycles. COMPLETE cool down in between. Check the head torque.
One or two passes at 1/4 to half throttle down the track/dunes to check for noises, tranny and clutch operation, etc...

Warm it up...give er hell...
For sure double and tripple check your head nuts to torque spec.

Do you guys that are "checking" your torque on your head nuts back them off then re-tighten them? You realize the static friction to start turning one could trigger the torque wrench to click over and tell you it is tight enough. Just somethin i've learned, i figure most of you know this though.
can someone tell me what torque specs are , for my 10 mil cheetah head??
20ft lbs... Good idea to torque them in a star pattern... I go 10 ft. lbs all the way around, then 15, then 20...nice even pattern.
thanks Dave...

nah, that first tank I will let the bike get to operating temps, and just run up and down through the gears, at variouse throttle positions. make a few passes and then beat it, but by the time I get to that point the tank is near gone. Have to remember I don't truck my bike to the hill, I ride it (for now at least).
my break in, 2-3 heat cycles and then I drive it like I stole it
