I've heard the same thing. I think I saw a post from Jim @ Passion racing on HQ that said he was about 1.5 hp or so lower with the IFs vs. the OOFs on his 421 Cub.

I've also read that some motors have made equal or better power with Shearer IFs vs OOFs on the dyno.

I have ran both on the same motor (421) on different days. The motor wouldn't stay cleaned out as easily with the inframes, but that was when I was new to alky, and really didn't know to clean it out before making a pass. I couldn't compare times because it was on 2 different tracks.
I've herad there was no HP difference between silenced and stingers.

I've actually made my fastest passes with silencers.

If I hit a dyno this year I'll try it both ways and see what it reads.
just because you hit your fastests time with silencers doesnt mean it was the silencers that caused it..more then likely you rode better that pass,,the humidity was different, track conditions....going between silencers and non silencers on oof you are not going to be able to gain any track et or feel a difference its just going to be seen at the dyno.
i wish i could find some used rdz or shears !!

OK, no need for condescending remarks. If the silencers are the correct diameter they will run exactly the same. A case can be made that you can make a better pass if you can here your motor...lol .

It is also true that the experienced riders learn/develope an ability to "feel" the shift points well enough not to need to "here"
post didnt make sense after shayne deleted his lol.....
Sorry, I had a mod delete my previous post. I didn't think it was a needed reply and it was off topic.
Have a good day!!
What pipes are u goin to run now, shayne ? Stingers ??

I put stingers on mine because I run the track 90% of the time. We HAVE to use silencers and sparkies for the dunes.
With all the meth blowing through the tubes, I'm sure the silencer packing will break down quicker then on gas alone....some can probably confirm or deny that.

I was kinda hoping to shave .5 off my times, but...look like that's not gonna happen... (LOL, J/K)

I think what Fouled out was trying to say is he made his best pass with silencers on, NOT that it helped him make the best pass, just that it didn't hurt at all....
Our results have shown .5HP increases with OOF Shearers vs. inframes on our 421's...results may vary depending on the build. A more important fact is that on ANY drag pipe, is where it makes the peak power, not the number itself....within reason ofcourse.....Jim
hey jim... glad to see u on this forum !! hows everything goin... busy ??
Is there really no difference between Silenced and unsilenced? My ears dont seem to like my unsilnced shearers

Thats exactly what I meant Dave!! I kinda figured that most people who read my post would understand what I was saying.

Rico I run stingers on the track and Silenced w/ sparkys in the dunes.
