Purge Mixture

Anyone tried Klotz uplon for purge mix for the meth bikes?

Uplon is the upper end lube that the 4 strokers sometimes use for methanol...it cleans the corrosive meth out of the bikes.

I know Tedders uses it, anyone else?

i never used uplon, however i do run 927 in my bikes. i buy it by the case so i mix it with gas and alky. been working just fine for me and dosen't smell bad like klotz oils do.

i mix at 20-1 32oz per 5 gallons. i believe in plenty of lube, oil is cheaper and rebuilds!!!

I had nothing but problems with castor 927 with my R motor..It gunked up my carbs and reeds to a point of gel on my mostly stock R motor for my duner..I switched to klotz and never had a problem with it...

So Supertechniplate is one of the top lubes to use? What is a good mixing ratio for purge gas and Alky mix??
Oil is like the car or truck you drive. personal preference...but I think as long as your oil is methanol compatible, that's the main point....

I agree.

I use Redline Alky pre mix with alky, and urge with 110 and Redline 2 stroke. I had about 2 gal of supertechniplate when i was on the dyno, and small birdie said he has seen quite of few crank bearing issues and rod bearing issues with super T. Did i say small birdie? Big birdie! LOL
To be honest, as long as it's meth compatible, type of oil is usually not the problem. Lack of that oil, usually is. Whether it's a lean premix ratio OR lean jetting....
I heard alot of people say to use the same oil in your purge gas as your pre mix, true?

I do that, but it's mostly because I don't care to have several partial bottle of oil sitting around. I started running R50 in my red bike though, which runs a special race gas at the moment, ao I am sort of breaking my own rule.

Yeah, any gas you run will be special....

Let me riddle you this: Is it funnier to be in the special olympics or to a hardcore fan of the special olympics?

Hi guy's, I'm new here but most of you have seen me around the other sites. Dave mentioned me in the original post so I thought I'd give my .02 for what it's worth. I think there are a lot of good oils on the market and it pretty much boils down to personal preference. Sometimes it's a smoke issue, Sometimes it's as simple as gee that smells nice
. We run 1/4 mile and for over two years used Klotz SuperTechniplate with VP gas. In 375 passes the pistons still had the machining marks around them, the cylinders had no perceptible wear and it lost -0- compression from day one. In June 2007 after switching to alcohol we started to see piston scuffing. In a month and a half it lost 15lbs compression. Most of which was from scatches that the rings couldn't seal. I suspect the main problem was ME for not mixing richer after the switch. The pistons were likely being washed down with all that extra fuel.
This year I've decided to stay at the same ratio (slow learner) but am switching to Benol for higher film strength.
As for purge and storage.....
As much as I like SuperTechniplate it WILL absolutely let the inside of your motor rust over time. With our climate in Ohio it can get real ugly internally and Benol will gum things up as it dries. Neither is recommended as a storage lube by Klotz.
Uplon IOM is the perfect solution for purge fuel when using Klotz products. It's an excellent rust preventative if using Super and will wash out the caster residue of Benol to preventing the gum deposits.
Bonus...It mixes with gas and alcohol.

By the way...Ted. What ratio did you mix the super and benoil in both gas and alky?
Will Super mixed with gas also cause things to rust or just w/ alky b/c of it attracting moisture?

Depending on climate, how long it sits etc it will rust with gas also.
