I just use a overflow tank for a bottle and just usually run one or two of those through till its empty then be good.

ok I have the lg. billet bowls so they take up a lot of fuel so would I still do it the same way or run it through & just let purge gas stay in bowls until i am ready to race again & then I drain the bowls & turn on pingel to start with alky again?

just looking for the simpliest , & best way to keep my junk takin care of.. Thanks

The way we do it is run the purge gas till you're blowin out fuel, i'm sure u know why it does this so i wont explain. Then drain all the gas out of the tank but it'll still leave some in the bowls. some people say to drain the bowls somehow cuz they dont start as well on gas but if it's tuned right them seem to

you really need to drain the bowls if there was alcohol in it. Do this, take a glass of alcohol and leave it sit for a couple days. It will get cloudy and full of little white strings. These are a reaction between the alcohol and the moisture in the air. The white strings will clog the tiny feed holes in your carbs. It is best to purge until all the alcohol is out of the carb bowls. you will know because for a alcohol jetted bike to run on gas you will have to keep it wide open just so it will idle. I usually will run the bike like that for a minute or 2. Then drain the tank and put the fuel tubes back on the pingle and leave it. Do not drain the carbs. Leave the gas in it and then when you go to start it just add alcohol to the tank. It will mix with the gas and it will start, just pin it. Keep your finger on the kill switch. Once the motor starts to come to get ready with the kill switch when the motor takes off hit the kill switch and pin the throttle. This will kill the motor. Then restart holding the kill switch just in case. It should fire right up!..

To kill an alcohol bike that is running out of control, you not only have to hit the kill switch but PIN THE THROTTLE, this floods the motor. The reason is because the motor doesn't need all that fuel when it's not under a load..

hope this helps..

Call me old fashioned, but I'll run mine until it won't stay running unless I give it at LEAST half throttle.
I run it for a few more minutes that way.
I usually end up taking my bowls off and cleaning the needle seat with brake clean within a few days.
I more or less purge with a lot of oil to clean off the meth and lube the bearings.
I don't mind taking the bowls off to drain the little bit of gas/alky left in them to clean 'em...

I let it run almost dry on the alky that is in the bowls, then run the gas mix until it falls on its face, then just a little longer. I've purged before with the bowls completly dry of alky (due to cleaning carbs, etc.) and it fell almost immediately. I've also not purged a motor (stock) for a month or so, and I had to stand on the kicker to get it to kick over, then clean the corroded crap out of a carb to get it to run right. It's fine now. I knew better, but didn't give a rat's azz about that stocker...just a toy.

I've seen an alky motor run off from that....ran a little too much alky out of the carb before he put the gas on...

Yeah, you're right. Almost dry....is the key. I did have the stocker run-off with the pet[censored]>> off once....I turned the kill switch and it just kept going....had to throw it in gear and pop the clutch to stop 'er.

I've found the difference b/t letting the bowls get almost dry, and just flooding the alky (into the gas filled bowls) is a difference of about 10 minutes and a pint of gas premix. The gas just keeps mixing with the alky and the motor never "falls", though this may be inconsequential; as long as a decent amount of alky/gas mix is ran through, it may be ok. That's not a question I can answer.

Fixed...
I know this is off topic, but you asked! You can set the filter to exact or loose. It was set to loose.
I set it to exact.

Now, you can type petcock, but not [censored] on it's own....

We're trying to be an understandingly censored forum when it comes to swear/cuss words.
I refuse to have the word damn filtered....LOL...

If you can't handle that word, it's back to the coloring book w/ crayons for you.

I've always started the quad after a day of racing and let it run the bowls ALMOST dry before allowing the purge fuel to enter the carbs. I rigged up a container with an inline valve. Once I hear the engine just start to change tone, I open the inline valve to flood the carb bowls. This is risky business if you don't pay close attention when to allow the purge fuel in. This keeps me from having to drain the bowls which I find to be more convenient.

And yes, I always purge at the end of race day.
