My buddy has a pvl ignition on his 16mil twister and for some reason it's not getting fire, I read in another post that it is necessary to run two kill switches w/ the pvl is this true?? It only has one push button kill switch on the handlebars, could this be the problem???

I ran 2 on my 10 mill with the pvl..


If he is not gettin spark ,its something else..Is it one side or both ?Also what kind of kil switches is he using..I bought some cheapies off Ebay and they sucked..Would only have one side running sometimes..Had to constantly mess with the teathers...

PVL's are notorious for losing a coil. You have the option of sending the unit in and they will test it for you for a fee.

The coils can be tested easily enough. Penton can send you the procedure for checking the primary and secondary windings. The stators a bit tougher to test though.

I was referring to the coils on the stator. Should have been more clear.

It probably is a problem. You need to run a kill system that isolates each coils grounding. Two kill switches is the easy way to do it. If you don't have the bike setup like this, then you will more than likely see intermittant spark problem due to feedback from the ground circuits.

As an FYI, you may not actually be able to see a strong spark from the PVL when kicking the bike over. Due to the nature of the system the flywheel needs to be moving pretty fast to see a strong, visible spark.
