Just wanting a few suggestions on what swinger to go with? I am going to start building a stock frame stock cyl drag bike, going with 4 mil drag port 36 pwk on alky probably going to end up with struts all around, as far as the swingarm goes I have no clue what size to get. Sure tires size and type has something to do with it basically just igve me a shot in the dark +4? +6? Surely I wont need bigger than that.

I rode my 421 cub with just cleanup porting on 35 PWK's on gas with a +6. 10 paddle haulers and marvin shaws all around and it was fine.

If you decide to go with a +6 let me know i have mine forsale now that i am getting the motor drag ported and going to alky. There is a link in the forsale section for it.

Tire size/number of paddles, etc. definitely makes a difference as to what length swingarm you need. On the track, I think you'd want a +8. If it's too short you'll have problems with controlling the bike and crow-hopping. Track surface also has a big role in what length swingarm you need...how much do you weigh?
Also...are you going to run a wheelie bar? That figures into the equation as well.
I weigh in at 160. I dont want to run a bar just yet, I'm not that serious about it mostly just a screw around drag bike but I dont want the front end in the air at all
If you dont want the bike in the air @ all better go longer.
I have a 350 drag ported on gas with 12's and a +9 arm and it comes up on me.
I ran a +12 with some 10 paddles on a 4mil cub. It didn't even think about wheeling, but also didn't have near as fast as time as possible. I'm thinkin an 8 or 10 with 10 paddles would work ok w/o a bar, but I'm gonna go bar.
travis.. how did ur 421 run on ur old +8 swing
If your running struts all the way around go with a wheelie bar especially if your only gonna do drag racing down the track.

The swingarm was too short, just my opinion, I would go 10 over if I were to do it again. On my new chassis it's 12.5 out the back
it all depends on what he is riding on. I was able to ride my cub with cleanup port on gas with a +6 fine. launched it hard as crap in the sand. At a track with heavy dirt thats groomed would be totally differant
I am just focusing my attention on this comment right here...

"just a screw around drag bike but I dont want the front end in the air at all "

My stock cylinder 350 would pull the wheels up when launching on a +8 swingarm, and I weigh 285 lbs. I just think the "safe" decision would be 8 over, and he could easily take away or add traction by the rear end height/swingarm angle...but who am I to say...I've only been racing banshees for a few years now
dang travis your getting all soft in your old age. stop whining bro theres more then one way to skin a cat

There is no whining...I'm just actually giving him real first hand advice from experience. He said he wanted to race and didn't want the wheels to come up, so I suggest what I have had work best on a track for me, for my friends, one of them having the same setup he's asking about.. I'm assuming he wants to race on a track because he said he didn't want a wheelie bar since he just wants to play, nothing serious. I'm trying to save the guy some money....he wants something to play around on and not be pulling the wheels, he didn't ask what's going to get him the most traction. I think you took my context wrong....

No problem at all, it's real hard to tell people's demeanor through text especially when you've never spoken to them to know how they talk, and sometimes smilies don't really apply, lol, it's something I'm learning to realize the more I frequent the forums.
